Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah finials, 1950
The flat Rimon is in the shape of Star^of^David, is made of silver and consists of a shaft a body and a head.
A. The shaft is cylindrical and tapering. It is decorated by winding striped of geometrical motif. The upper and lower borders are encircled by runners of geometrical motif. The shaft is surmounted a domed capital with wavy rim. It is decorated by a Star^of^David which is surrounded by a foliate runner. Chians hang around the capital and carry almond-like bells.
B. The body has the shape of a Star^of^David. Descriptions of the Western^Wall~ depicts one side of the body, and a description of Rachel's^Tomb~ the other side of the body. These descriptions are surrounded by dedicatory inscritions. The dedicatory inscriptions are surrounded by an inscription which is engraved in outline letters and reads:
תורה צוה לנו משה מורשה קהלת יעקב יח ניסן תשי !(Deut. 33:4) followed by-18 of Nisan (5)710 (1950).
C. The head is in the shape of two Paisley leaves attaching each other. A Star^of^David is mounted over the crescent and bears the inscription:
On one side of the head: כתר !A Crown!
On the other side of the head: תורה !Of the Torah !
The dedicatory inscriptions are engraved in outline letters and read:
Rimon A.: עשיתי מו )מולא( אליהו בן מר יעקב לכבוד ספר תורה !
I made Mullah (initial letters) Elijah son of Mr. Jacob for the honor of Torah scroll!
Rimon B.: לעלוי נשמת יעקב בן בנימין )צד אחורי מסתיים: בעתצו( !To the exaltation of the soul of Jacob son of Bejamin!
