On the Kristallnacht, on 9 to 10 November, the synagogue was set on fire. As Krzysztof Popiński recalled, the synagogue had been burning under the supervision of fire fighters, who had been watching if the fire did not extend to the neighbouring buildings. (cited from Virtual Shtetl)

The founder of the synagogue was merchant Israel Hülse, and the main sponsor – Sachs, a banker. Its cost was estimated at 50,000 Marks. The design of the synagogue was prepared by a rather unknown architect called Zschetzschingk, and the building was administrated by master Bergmann. (cited from Virtual Shtetl)
