  Hanukkah lamp

The hanging back-walled Hanukah lamp is made of brass and consists of a row of oil containers, an oil tray, a back and side walls,and a Shamash. A row of eight rectangular, spouted oil containers is attached to the back wall and side walls. The oil tray is made of sheet brass and consists of a back wall, side walls, and a drip tray. The back wall, in the shape of a pointed arch, has an applied wire rim. The side walls have a curved edge. The back wall of the lamp consists of three decorative sections. Above a plain band, a frieze of six openwork tabula ansata forms is topped by a middle element flanked by two fleur-de-lis. These latter three are topped by globular apex These three forms are topped by globular apexes. The middle form is surmounted by a Star^of^David and bears a framed inscription: "כי נר מצוה / ותורה אור )משלי ו:כג( (Proverbs 6:23) The rectangular side walls are decorated with two openwork tabula ansata forms, topped by a fleur-de-lis surmounted by a globular apex. The Shamash is a fixed rectangular, spouted oil container attached above the inscription. A loop hanger is attached to a wire rim at the top of the oil tray's pointed arch.
