Great Synagogue in Fălticeni - Main prayer hall

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 2010

The Great Synagogue in Fălticeni has two prayer halls: the main hall and a small hall. The main prayer hall of the synagogue in Fălticeni are rectangular in plan. The space of the prayer hall covered with tetrahedral dome. Three sides of the hall is surrounded by balconies women's gallery, which supported by  the octagonal wooden columns. The great multi-tiered wooden carved Torah Ark, made in 1868, correlated with architectural details of construction of the prayer hall. The vault of the synagogue is designed as a starry sky. The earlier fragments of decorative painting can be seen under the partly collapsed murals on the vault. The walls of the prayer hall are decorated with images of the Tribes of Israel. The illustrative picture "Giving of the Torah" is placed in the center of the west wall.
