Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah mantle, Hungary, 1906
The purple Torah^mantle is made of velvet.
The rectangular cloth cloak is made of two parts and is attached at the upper border, leaving two openings for Torah Scroll rods. It opens in its lower part on both sides. The cloth bears an emnroidery decoration of a wreath encircling a dedicatory inscription. A Torah^crown~ appears above the wreath with an inscription which reads: כ % ת "Crown of % Torah (int.)" The dedicatory inscription is embroidered in outline letters and reads:
ז'נ )זאת נידב(##ר' צבי יהוד בן ר' אפרים##ע'ז' )עם זוגתו( מ' טילא בת ר' משה##ר' יצחק בן ר' מרדכי זעליג##ע'ז' מ' חיילא בת ר' דוד##ת'ר'ס'ו'
"This was donated (int.)##by R. Zvi Judah son of R. Ephraim##with his wife (int.) Mrs. Tila daughter of R. Moses##R. Isaac son of R. Mordecai Zelig##with his wife Mrs. Haiah'le, daughter of R. David##(5)666=(1906)"
The back of the Torah^mantle bears an embroidered inscription in Hungarian which reads:
