The onion-shaped crown is covered with red velvet. It has six rimon mounts. An arched paper plaque is attached to both sides of the case opening. It bears an inscription, in golden-filled letters, which reads from the right, in an arched line:

Translation: __________________, Thou art mighty forever O Lord (initials).

Inside the arch, the inscription continues in six lines:

Translation: And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel: These are the testimonies and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt (Deut. 4:44-45), Elul 5639 (=1879)!.

The inscription continues on the left in the same manner. The arched line reads:

Translation: For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life (Prov.6:23)

It continues inside the arch:

Translation: This Torah case and the Torah scroll in it were dedicated to the soul who has found mercy, Shmuel son of Menashe, May his soul be bound up in the bond of life, Elul 5639 (=1879)
