Modern Jewish Art
  Sgan-Cohen, The wandering Jew

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev,

The picture depicts a large figure walking towards the left behind a large wooden chair. The figure's head is painted on a different piece of stretched canvas attached to the painting. A pointing hand is drawn at the upper left corner of the picture, pointing to the figure with two fingers. It is drawn on blue sky background and suggests the hand of God. The head, depicted on a different piece of canvas on a purple background is a bearded, long haired, bird head in prophile with a yellow triangular Jew hat over it. The figure's eye looks backwords, to another pointing hand, but this one is more threating, almost resembling a gun to the head. The sleeve of the figure's white-yellowish robe has blue stains on it and is in the robe's pocket.
