Modern Jewish Art
  Sgan-Cohen, Self portrait

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Laor, Liora, 2.95

An aluminum rectangular panel resembling a mirror is mounted to the upper-central part of the picture. A portrait of the artist is depicted on the panel. His yellow face has no features and a strip of masking tape conceals the place where his eyes should be. His hair and beard are beige, and he wears a light blue sweater. His left arm is stretched out, with a palm print that resembles the hand signal to stop. A string is stretched from the lower left corner of the aluminum panel to the upper right corner of the picture and then to the lower part of the picture. The infinity symbol is painted beneath the aluminium panel against a background of four rectangles in different sizes and colors (right to left): green, red, reddish-brown, yellow. Above the green rectangle on the right is a red square, which merges with the sky blue stripe above that serves as a frame for the aluminium panel. The same sky blue background appears on the left of the panel. Below it, a yellow blue plane and a blue plan, with white wavy lines that suggest a depiction of the sea.
