  Sacred and Ritual Amulet, Afghanistan, 2nd half of the 19th century - 1st half of the 20th century (?)
The flat amulet is made of brass.
The amulet is rectangular, topped by a round arch, and its rim is folded inside. In the center is a seven-branched menorah shaped in script (Ps. 67:1-8) that starts at the top bar. Above the menorah is an inscription which reads:
שויתי תמיד ה' לנגדי כמבא (כי מימיני בל אמוט) !Ps. 16:8!
On both sides of the menorah appear the names of the following angles:
אוריאל, רפאל, גבריאל, מיכאל, אחביאל, חניאל, חסריאל, רחמיאל, מרגליאל
Translation: Uriel, Raphael, Gabriel, Michael, Ahaviel, Haniel, Hasriel, Rahmiel, Margliel
All these inscriptions are framed by a pointed arch. The borders of the plate are encircled by an inscription on a dotted background. The inscription is engraved in outline letters and reads:
אבג יתצ קרע שטנ נגד יכש בטר צתג חקב טנע יגל פזק שקו צית בשכמלו (ברוך שם מלכותו לעולם ועד)
Translation: 42 letter name of God, followed by: blessed be the name of His glorious majesty forever and ever(int.)!
A hole for a chain is in the top of the plate.
