Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah finials , Turkey, 1889
The acorn shaped Torah finial consists of a shaft, a body and an apex. The cylindrical shaft is encircled at the bottom by a double ring. It bears an inscription within a double frame in five circumferly lines in square filled letters which reads:
"אלו ארבעה רימוני כסף הקדישם למדרש##של יוני מחלא למ"ר )למורה רב( אליהו כהן ירו' )ירושלמי(המ' )המכובד(##הנ' )הנגיד( נשיא העדה נר'ו )נטריה רחמנא וברכיה ]ישמרהו הרחמן ויברכו[( לחייו ולחיי בניו ובנותיו ולחיי כל קרוביו היו' )ה' יחיהו ויזכהו( בשנת התרמ'ט טו לח' ניסן"
These are four silver Torah finials dedicated to the temple of Yoni Machla ///////Eliyaho Cohen///// the praiseworthy /////the president of the community may the merciful one protect him and bless his life and his sons and his daughters life and the life of all his relatives may the Lord sustain him and grant him favour Day 15 to the month of Nisan, [5]649 (1889).
The acorn like body is surmounted by a bud shaped apex. The apex is set on a circlet in a shape of radiating petals. The apex is in the shape of a bud, it is mounted on a row of radiating petals.
