Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah case wrapper, Libya?, 1900-1949
The rectangular Torah case wrapper is made of velvet. Four cartouches with interlaced branches depicts the corners of the wrapper. The centre is decorated with a stilized vase with flowers. A dedicatory inscription embroiderd above the vase. Ribbons decorated with five pointed stars, crescent moon and simetrical hand intermittently are attached to the borders of the of the wrapper. Nine loops are sewn to the wrapper upper border.## The wrapper has cotton lining. The dedicatory inscription is written in filled letters and reads: !ע!ה )=עבד ה'( / כליפה סאסי / הי!ו )=ה' יחיהו ויחזקהו(! !Servant of the Lord / Khalifa Sasi / May the Lord sustain and strengthen him!
