Sacred and Ritual Objects Stamp of Salamon Aben Sur, Fes (Fez), circa 1890
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
This is the private seal of Rabbi Shlomo ben Raphael ibn Zur of Fez, the son of Raphael, one of the most revered rabbis of Fez, and a major Rabbi in Fez in his own right. The seal is of typical Jerusalem type, probably made in that city to the order of Rabbi Shlomo. The depiction of the Kotel and the temple mount is detailed and finely rendered. A picture of this seal was used on the tab of a stamp of the State of Israel a few years ago.
Inscription:
The Servant of the Lord Shelomo, son of the honorable teacher, the Rabbi Reb Rafael Ibn Zur
