  Sacred and Ritual  Ibn Ezra Synagogue - Torah ark doors

The two rectangular doors of Torah^ark are made of wood.

Each door has two hinges and it is opened by a lock.

The doors bear inscriptions in upper and lower frizes and in centeral rectangular frames. The inscriptions start on the right door and continue on the left door. They carved in outline letters and read:

Upper frize, on right

פתחו לי שערי צדק On left אבא בם אודה יה Ps. 118:19

 Central frame, on the right door:

שאו שערים##ראשיכם ושאו##פתחי עלם ו)יבא(##מלך הכבוד מי##זה מלך הכבוד##זה עזוז וגבור##זה גיבור מ'##מלחמה

On left:

שאו שערים ##ראשיכם ושאו##פתחי עולם ויבא##מלך הכבוד מי##זה זה מלך##הכבוד י'י##צבאות הוא## מלך הכבוד סלה Ps. 24:7-10

Lower frize on right door:

זה השער ליי On left: צדיקים יבאו בו Ps. 113:3

The inner side of doors bears inscriptions which are carved in outline letters, and read:

Right door:

תורת י'י תמימה##משיבת נפש##עדות י'י##נאמנה מחכ'##פתי: פקודי##י'י ישרים##משמחי לב##מצות י'י ברה ##מאירת עינים##יראת י'י טהורה ##עומדת לעד מש'##י'י צדקו יחדו Ps. 19:8-10

Left door:

יברכך י'י וישמרך:##יאר י'י פניו ##אליך ויחנך##ישא י'י פניו##אליך וישם##לך שלום:##ושמו את##שמי על##בני ישראל##ואני אברכם##שים שלום טובה וברכה Num. 6:24-26
