Sacred and Ritual Objects  Torah finials, Tbilisi, 1906

The tower shaped silver rimon consists of a shaft, a body and an apex.The shaft is cylindrical and tapering upwards and it bears a ring on bottom.The shaft is surmounted by a globular capital with a double ringed decoration. The body consists of six rectangular facets surmounted by trefoil archs and bear quotations from the ten commandments (Ex.20), and a dedicatory inscription in square letters filled with zigzag lines. The lower part of the body bears a decorative band of vegetal motifs repeated in the upper part behind the archs. The lower and the upper parts support chained drop like bells hung from the centre of the facet(down) and from its corners(up)with respective loops.The bells are decorated with floral patterns. The body ends in a domed roof divided into six facets which continue the prysmoid shape of the body.This part is mounted over a double band decorated with hemispherical, triangleular and dotted patterns.Here appear more vegetal motifs which stem up towards the apex. The apex consists of a circlet with radiating petals from which stems out a bud which bears a flat rosette like end.
