  Sacred and Ritual   Limoni, Tbilisi, late 19th century (?)

The pear shaped brass rimon consists of a shaft, a body, a head and an apex.The cylindrical shaft tapers upwards and bears a ring on its bottom.A radiating circlet-like capital with a hatched rim surmounts the shaft. One shaft bears a dedicatory inscription in square filled letters which reads vertically from top to bottom: !נדבת יצחק בן יעקב##ע!ז)עם זוגתו( חנה בת גבריאל##טאפיציאשבילי! !A donation of Izhak son of Yaacov with his mate Hannah daughter of Gabriel Tapiziashvili!. The body consists of two compressed globular sections of different size connected by a tapering unit.Each section is decorated with four opening flower motifs separated by four vertical bands. Originally each section bears four identical bird- like loops looking down, for the insertion of the bells. The intermediate unit is covered with an openwork of stems and leaves in alternation.Its rims are hatched. The head has a compressed globular shape and it is mounted over a plain concave circlet with rings and hatched rims on its ends. One head is covered with opening flower motifs, the same as the body.The other consists of petals radiating upwards and turning in.Both rimonim terminate in a flower with hatched petals topped by a spreaded winged bird-like apex.
