  Torah Ark curtain, Yemen, 1920-1960

The rectangular Parochet is made of a red cloth framed by green cloths.A bordeaux square fabric is attached at each of the four corners. The central cloth bears an inscription in yellow full square linear letters. The upper row is arched shaped and reads: !והשם בהיכל קדשו הס מפניו כל הארץ!##!ב!ה )ברוך השם(! (Hab. 2:20) At the centre,an embroidered white and blue Star of David surmounts a vertical inscription which reads: !וצדקתם עומדת לעד##וכלל המתפללים יהיה ה')השם( אתם##ויהיה השלום אתם##ויזכו לעלות בסולם##ותלמוד תורה כנגד כלם##ונסיים בפסוק ועתה ישראל##מה השם אלוהיך שואל מעמך## כי אם ליראה את השם אליהך וגומר! !And their righteousness stands forever and all the prayers the Lord will be with them and the peace will be with them and will win to climb in the ladder (Mishnah Peah 1:1) and we will terminate with the verse (Deut. 10:12)! Eight loops of metal rings are placed on the upper side of the Parochet.
