The brown reader's desk comprises a rectangular closed table and an elevated back.

The rectangular table is formed by a horizontal board topping a cupboard and enclosed within a banister. The banister bears at its front two columns topped by geometrical finials, these are attached to the back by two diagonal rods.

The gate-shaped elevated back is formed by two columns supporting an ogee arch. It divides into a lower and an upper parts.

The lower part continues the table's banister and divides at its centre into two squares by a wooden strip decorated with a floral pattern. Geometrical angles, similar to the banister's finials, top the squares.

The upper part bears in its centre a horizontal toothed strip. Wooden hooks, facing theArk, are attached to this strip. while toothed angles with hooks at their ends appear at its sides.

The upper part terminates with an ogee arch set within a rectangular frame.
