The candlestick is composed of a base, shaft and a socket cup.

The square base has convex angles and a round raised base in its center that bears a smooth strip surmounted by intertwined and alternating flowes and leaves. The top bears upsidedown acanthus leaves that radiate from the center.

The undulating shaft is composed of a base that resembles a vase decorated with upsidedown leaves with two rectangular units inbetween them. The shaft emerges from the vase, it tapers in the center and widens on top. The bottom is smooth and the top various vertical leaves and branches.

The cup socket bears the same design on bottom as the vase of the shaft. The serated edges turn outwards.

Hallmark
There are four hallmarks on the base of the candlestick. 1. The hallmark depicts a gate with three towers, the central one is higher, within a rectangular frame with cut corners. This is a city mark of Zhitomir. cf Postnikova-Losseva,
similar to 424, p.160.##2. The cyrillic initials "P.K."(in lat.) surmounting the date 1871 within a rectangular frame with cut edges. This is the mark of an unknown assayer active in Zhitomir between 1873-1876.
cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p.160, similar to no.431.##3. The cypher 84 in a rectangular frame with cut edges. This is a Russian quality mark 18-19th c., that was used in all the territories of the empire including Poland.
4. The cyrillic letters "SH.L.F.?" (in lat.) in a rectangular frame. This is the mark of an unidentified artist.
