The silver Torah Finial consists of a shaft. The shaft is faceted and is supported by a round raised base. The base is circumfered by alternating smooth strips and strips with foliate scrolls.
The base of the shaft is a compressed six faceted unit. The facets are decorated alternately with foliate motifs and a dedicatory inscription which appears on each Finial in square filled letters. The first inscription reads:
ר' )רב( צבי יהודה ב"ר )בן רבי( יוסיף נתן מתנה לבה"כ )לבית הכנסת( דחברה אופים בזיטאמיר"
" Rabbi Zvi Judah son of Rabbi Joseph gave as a present to the synagogue of the society of bakers in Zhitomir". ##The second one reads:
"נתתי מתנה לבה"כ )לבית הכנסת( דחברה האופים ר' )רב( יעקב ב"ר )בן רבי( אליהו ואש זיטאמיר"
" I gave as a present to the synagogue of the society of bakers Rabbi Jaccob son of Rabbi Elijah vash Zhitomir".
The shaft has eight facets which are alternately silver and gold. The silver facets bear a foliate design while the gold ones have holes at the top and bottom for decorations to be attached.
The shaft is surmounted by a wide square unit with edges done in openwork.

There are four hallmarks on the object.##1.Depicts an opened gate castle with three towers within a double frame shaped like a shield. This is the city mark for Zhitomir c.f. Postnikova-Losseva , p.160 Fig.423.
2. Cyrillic initials: "JA.D" (in lat.) with the date 1862 under the line in a rectangular frame, assayer mark of Davidov Jacov Alexevich, active in Zhitomir 1857-1862, c.f. Postnikova-Losseva, p.160, no.429.
3. Cyrillic letters:"A.D" (in lat.) in a rectangular frame, initials of an unknown artist active in 1859. c.f. Postnikova-Losseva, p.160, no.433.
4. The cyphers 84 in a rectangular frame, Russian quality mark in the 18-19thc. c.f. Postnikova-Losseva, p.148 no.12, Lileyko, p.88.
