Four hallmarks are stamped on the base. 1. The hallmark depicts a castle with three towers within a double frame shaped like a shield. This is the city mark for Zhitomir in the years 1823-1857. Cf. It is the assay mark of Davidov Jacov Alexevich, active in Zhitomir in the years 1857-1862.## Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p.160, no.429. 3. The hallmark depicts the cyphers 84 in a square frame. The city hallmark precedes chronologically the assay hallmark and this problem must be checked.
Another hallmark which depicts Saint George on a horse, was documanted but not photographed.
