One of a series of stained-glass windows in the synagogue social hall that represent the Twelve Tribes is designated for Joseph. Included in the lower right corner of the window is an old photo of a large Jewish family – the family of congregant and survivor Joseph Engel who were all killed in the Holocaust. The window serves as part of the Biblical series of Tribes, as a personal and congregation memorial for the Engel family (and other victims of the Holocaust), and as recognition of Joseph Engel is his role as Survivor and Holocaust educator.
The original window only represented the name and symbols for Joseph and is part of a series of windows the represent the Twelve Tribes set in the clerestory of the sanctuary and social hall, which can be opened into one large open space. The window was damaged and when it weas repaired the artist include in one of the irregular panes a photo of the extended Engel family, all of whom were murdered in the Holocaust.
