Memorial Name:

No official name.

Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Wyszków, Poland, who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The monument is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives.

The memorial consists of a light-colored upright slab featuring a Hebrew inscription and a stylized Star of David, shaped like a leaf or flower. The slab's left side is rough and unfinished, while the right side, bearing the inscription, is smooth.

There is a small black vessel set on the base.

The monument bears Hebrew inscriptions that honor the memory of the community. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. One of the inscriptions indicates that the monument contains the ashes of the Jewish victims.

Inscription:

On the slab, in Hebrew:

גלעד

וישקוב

Translation: Memorial / Wyszków

On Magen David:

לזכר קהילת

קדושי וישקוב

Translation: In memory of the holy community / of Wyszków

On the upper part of the base, in Hebrew:

על אלה אני בוכיה (איכה)

Translation: For these I weep (Lamentations)

On the front part of the base, in Hebrew:

יום הזכרון ב' באלול

Translation:  Memorial Day: 2nd of Elul

Commissioned by:

Landsmannschaft organization and Holocaust survivors from Wyszków.
