The tas is made of silver and consists of a plate, a crest and a chain. The plate is in the shape of a cartouche. It is decorated with two rampant lions looking forwards. They support the five and five Tablets of the Covenant. Above them is a Star of David framed by three branches. The calendar tablet is rectangular and is set in a door which is attached by hinges, in the lower part of the plate. It bears an inscription which is engraved in outline letters, and reads: ראש השנה "Rosh Hashana "(New Year) Bellow the calendar tablet is a cartouche framed by two branches. The plate is framed on both sides by a curtain which goes into a foliate pattern at the bottom. A crest in the shape of a crown, which is decorated with floral and geometrical pattern, is attached to the plate. The plate is hung by a chain which is inserted through three rings attached to the back of the plate.
