The sacrifice of Isaac is depicted at the center of the plate. Young Isaac, whose hands and legs are bound, lies on his back on a rectangular, brick altar on the right. Abraham, who stands to the left of the altar, is dressed in priestly garb. He wears a crown and has a long beard. Abraham holds Isaac by his hair and raises a sword in his right hand. A naked, winged angel emerges from a cloud above Abraham and, with his right hand, grips the sword, stopping Abraham from slaying Isaac.
To the right of the altar, a ram stands caught by its horns in a tree. Two bearded servants, wearing hats, stand to the left of Abraham below a foliate tree. Both look towards the angel while raising their hands in a praying gesture. The servant on the right holds an ass by its reins.
