Fol. 11:
Jethro’s seven daughters stand behind a well drawing water, while Moses, clad in a traveller’s tunic and holding a lance, converses with them. To the right a shepherd with his flock of sheep.
Inscribed:
ויבא משה אל הבאר ושם נפש
אומנות אבותיו תפש (?)
“And Moses came to rest at the well following his ancestors’ custom (i.e. of meeting his future wife at a well).” (Ex. Rabbah, 1, 32)
On the top left, Jethro sitting listening to his daughter telling him how Moses saved them from the shepherds at the well. Beneath them is Moses, clad in traveller’s tunic with a lance over his shoulder.
Inscribed near Jethro’s daughter:
גבור חיל יפה ונעים
הצילנו היום מהרועים
“A brave hero, handsome and pleasant, delivered us today from the shepherds (≠ Ex. 2:19).”
Near Moses:
ויאמר יתרו קראנה (!) אותו
ויאכל לחם ויבא משה לביתו
“Said Jethro: ‘call him that he may eat bread’ (≠ Ex. 2:20). And Moses came into his house.”
