The ten faceted Torah case consists of a body and a coronet. a pair of annulets encircle the top of the body, while a single annulet encircle the top. The case opens into two halves in the middle of the front facet, while the back facet is separated from the rest of the facetsand connected to them by a pair of hinges. The original facets are painted with oil (?) paints, in the colors deep green, red-orange, brown, white and burgundy. They are painted with a floral pattern, with a lobe at the top and bottom of each facet. The top lobes contain a sun motif, the bottom ones a plant. The front facet and the one on its right are painted with tempera(?), in the colors red, green, yellow, light blue, and black. They bear a highly stylized floral pattern within a pointed-arch-shaped cartouche at their center. The central cartouche is separated by a foliate band from a geometric rosette above and below it. The top of each of these two facets bears a flower within a lozenge-shaped frame. The pattern between the top annulets and below the bottom one is difficult to identify, but it has a deep green-turquoise background. The inner face is faceted, and painted orange. The hollow bottom has a shelf with a hole in it for the rods. Two insert holes for the staves are at the top of the case. The body is surmounted by a carved wooden coronet bearing an openwork palmette on each facet, except for the front two, which bear a geometric motif.
