Who is Commemorated?
Victims of Nazism and "those who died for freedom."
Description
This memorial is made up of two elements; a hexagonal upright slab, and a pillar, both made of concrete. It sits in a rectangular plaza of stone square tiles, with a large dirt patch in front of the upright slab.
The upright slab is engraved on both faces with a Magen David and sits on a small stone block that has a stone plaque with a Hebrew inscription on it.
The pillar has five vertical faces. Rectangular niches are carved out of it on all five sides, which are filled with black metal plaques that have the names of Holocaust victims and their ages embossed on them. Bands of small menorot appear in the lower part of each plaque.
Above these niches are inscriptions in Croatian, Italian, and Hebrew: a dedication and a phrase "The memory of the victims is a warning to the living."
