Three hallmarks are stamped on the pointer and its cuff.
1.The archangel Michael, holding a sword and a shield is depicted within a double frame shaped like a shield. This was the city mark of Kiev used between 1828-1887. cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p. 165 no. 574.
2. The archangel Michael is depicted on the right side of the hallmark and the cypher 84 appears on the left side within an oval frame.
This was a quality mark of Kiev in the 4th quarter of the 19th century.
Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p. 165, no. 576.
3. The hallmark which consists of Cyrillic letters: (L.SH.) is unidentified. It was probably the artist's hallmark.
Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p. 165, no. 574.
