The second illustration (between cols. 2 and 3 on sheet no. 1) depicts Mordecai and the young Esther. Mordecai wears a long blue robe with a red sash and holds a scroll in one hand while he pats Esther's head with the other. Esther stands beside Mordecai with her head bowed. She wears a circlet of leaves on her head, alluding to her Hebrew name Hadassah ("myrtle"). The illustration is labeled איש יהודי בשושן ושמו מרדכי ("In Shushan [Susa] the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai" - Es. 2:5).
The scroll is preserved in very good condition.
