The silver spice container, in the shape of a flower, consists of a base, a shaft in the form of a stem, and a round body, topped by an apex in the shape of a bird. The raised base in in the form of a tear-drop, with a punched foliate design around its edge. Atop the base are cast leaves from which the shaft, in the form of a stem, rises. The stem has three identical forked leaves, one at the base, and two midway up. A gilded snake is entwined around the stem. The round body sits on a base of leaves decorated with a linear pattern. There are six holes in the top of the body. Atop the body is a six-petalled, spiked leaf. A cast bird, wings outstretched is screwed into the top, above the leaves. :MED : Metal:NNO : 510-6:MH : 150 (overall):MWI : 80 (base):MC : 40 (overall):MAT : Silver, gilded silver##Structure: cast##Decoration:cast, punched##Bonding: screwed:TYP : OR:RG : S.F. 11.1991:AQ : J.C.R.
