The silver spice container is openworked and consists of a base, a shaft, a body, and an apex.##The base is a round convex resting on a smooth ring, decorated by a design of petals withdrawing from the center. Each petal is composed of scrolls. ##The shaft is cilindrical. ##The body is in a shape of conical, widening upwards bowl with a separated cover. It bears foliate design framed by two bands composed of scrolls. The cover is convex and is decorated by petal pattern withdrawing from surmounting flower.##The apex is in a shape of a flagstaff with a flag decorated by scrolls.

Four hallmarks are stamped on the body.##1. The hallmark depicts St.George on horseback, killing the dragon. He is facing right and framed by a rectangular with cut angles. It was Moscow city hallmark from 1880 till 1884.

##2. The hallmark depicts cyrillic initials "V.P" with the date "1883" under the line. It is framed by a rectangular. It was Russian assay hallmark with initials of unknown Moscow assay, who was active in 1883-1886.

##3. The hallmark depicts cyfer "88" framed by a rectangular with cut angles. It was Russian quality hallmark from 1847 till 1899.##cf.Postnikova-Losseva, p.148, no 19.
##4. The hallmark depicts cyrillic initials "MA" framed by a rectangular. It was the hallmark of Moscow artist Michail Andreev, who was active from 1867 till 1884.##cf.Postnikova-Losseva, p.220, no.2627.
