Art Alone
© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Unknown,

In the upper part of the text space the initial words "המאיר" and "הכל" are written in two rectangular penwork panels surrounded by J motifs executed in blue, red, green and magenta. Four medallions which may represent the four apocaliptic animals, read clockwise: and eagle, an ox, a human head and a lion are located in the four outer corners of the two panels. Stems of fleuronne' motifs protruding from the corners into the upper and lower margins flank the text. An inverted L shaped column of alternating blue and red, extends from the middle of the lower side of the right panel, separating the two text colomns incorporating on the right the original version of the prayer, and on the left the version recited when the festivals falls on a Sabbath.
