In the lower part of the text space the initial words "ברכו את ה' המבורך" are placed within a large rectangular penwork panel. The panel is arranged in a lozenge pattern of alternating red and green and surrounded by J motifs of blue and magenta. Attatched to the corners and in the center of each side of the panel, are small medallions, inhabiting a vulture's head, a bird, a rabbit, a dog's head, hybrids and two legged animals. In the space between the two rows of the script are three medallions of floral motifs: a fleur-de-lys, a five petaled flower and a fig-leaf. Fleuronne' motifs are protruding from the four corners, and extend into the upper and lower margin, flanking the text. Above the panel two facing hybrids raising spears and shields fight each other. The left one is winged and bears a monkey's face, the right one is wearing a plummed hat and bears a curved beaked bird's face.
