At the lower left part of the sheet, within a bell-shaped cartouche, is the crowned Esther with her maid at the palace court kneeling before Ahasuerus, who is escorted by a guard (Esther 1-3 or 8:3-4). The king holding Esther’s hand and touches her with his scepter. In the background, behind a town wall, is the gallows with the two hanging chamberlains Bigthan and Teresh (Esther 2:21-23) and a partly visible horseman on the right. The cartouche is framed by a thin gold line and placed between the books of Esther and Ruth.
