The Elijah's Rod is made of a cilyndrical wooden rod terminates with a handlle.##The rod is covered by silver plaques. The lower part is plain, the centeral part is decorated by winding striped of foliate motif. The upper part is decorated by winding striped of foliate motif and bears tce dedicatory inscription. Between the two upper parts tourquise stones are set in triangle frames. A knob-like handle is mounted over a cuff and is decorated with diagonal bands.##The dedicatory inscription is engraved in outline letters and is read from the handle: זה המטה שהקדיש יעקב בן מ מרדכי לביהכנ של הראד)ת( ש)שנת( ויתברכו לפק !This rod was dedicated by Ya'acov Hayim son of Mullah (int.) Mordecai to the synagauge of Herat, the year (5)644 (1884)!
