The cylindrical case has a slit in the centre for the scroll. The case bears floral scrolland acanthus scrolls all over. There are three rectangular shields in the centre on the side opposite the slit one above the other. The central shield is the largest and bears a depiction of the feast that queen Esther held for the king and for Haman. There is a table in the center of the scene covered by a tablecloth and four plates and a jug. The queen and king are shown wearing crowns and sitting on a bench behind the table. Haman who is bearded and wearing a turban, is shown sitting in a chair to the right of them. A young servant holding a platter in his outstreched handsis seen approaching them from the left. There is a door behind the table flanked by two windows and the floor bears square tiles. The top and bottom shields bear continuing inscriptions which read: "...let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them..." (Esther 5;8). The shields are all framed in a row of dots. The handle is scalloped and has a scroll like grip in the centre. A crank like handle is attached to the bottom of the handle. The top of the case is surmounted by a crown with foliate arms that join at the top under a globular apex. There are acanthus leaves inbetween the arms.
