The torah^case is made of wood and consists of a body and a crown.## The body is cylindrical and covered by purple velvet attached by nails. The body is decorated with two rows of nail pattern on the edges.Star of David and flowers nailed in vertical lines intermittently. The case is closed by two pairs of hook clasps. The inner face of the case is covered with cotton decorated with floral pattern. The onion shaped crown is composed of a main section, a crest,and an apex. The main section is covered with purple velvet, and decorated with nail pattern. The silver crest consists of a conical lower part and a globular upper part. Eight chains with bells are attached to the globular section. It is surmounted by a bud like apex. The inner side of the crest bears on both side a Star^of^David and a dedicatory inscription. Two rimon mounts are fixed on the top of the case. The inner face of the crown is covered by a white paper covered by glass. It bears a dedicatory iscription. The dedicatory inscription is written in black filled letters, and reads: ! וזאת ## התורה אשר ## שם משה לפני ## בני ישראל ## תיק זה וס!ת ## שבו עשה! Deut 4:44 follwed by !This Torah^ case and the scroll in it were made by (to be continued) The dedicatory inscription, continues on the left, and reads: ! אותו ## הר' יוסף ## שמעיה הכהן ## היו' ה' יאריך ## ימיו בטוב אכיר ## שנת התרפ!ז ! ! by the Rabbi Joseph ## Shmaiah the Cohen ## may the Lord sustain and strengthen him the Lord will lengthen his ## life in good (days) Amen may it be his will ## the year 5687 = 1927 The dedicatory inscription on the crest is engraved in linear letters and reads: ! כהן באבאי ! !Cohen Bahabai ! Continues on the left: ! ארון זליכה ! ! Aron Zelikhah !
