Fol. 163:
The page opening the second chapter of the SeMaK includes a painted part-page panel set on the upper part of the page executed in the first stage of decoration.
The panel is decorated above by gothic architecture of a gable with a gothic window topped by three crenellated towers, containing the initial word “to destroy” (לאבד), and is surrounded by a hunting scene. This page was executed in the first stage of decoration. The initial word is written in burnished gold display letters outlined in red and set on a blue ground inner panel, whose top is shaped as two trefoil arches. Foliated scrolls curl around the blue inner panel on an alternating red andbordeaux ground and are inhabited by a hunting scene. The scene contains on the top right a hunter blowing a horn, in the center lower part of the panel are his two dogs chasing two rabbits running. A third dog in the lower left-hand corner is chasing a stag seen at the top left.
Initial letters are written in bold black ink at the beginning of each Mitzvah, and an inscription above the panel reads: נשלם יום אחד/ שבח לאל המיוחד//יוצרי יצליחני/ במצוות יום שני ("The first day is completed; God will help me in writing the Mitzvoth of the second day").
