The following description was prepared by William Gross:

In the course of the regular Passover meal, wine is blessed on four occasions. This ceremony is performed with one cup or glass. This cup is a vessel for that wine blessing ceremony as well, but is one of four separate cups for each of the blessings. On it is inscribed words from the kabbalistic version of the Pesach Haggadah. This cup is for the third cup of wine and the appropriate blessing is inscribed on the cup.There also exists in the collection a matzah cover with kabbalistic inscriptions, 001.016.001. Such specifically kabbalistic ritual objects for Pesach are exceedingly rare. There is another such Kabbalistic cup from Egypt in the Gross Family Collection, 017.001.092.

This cup comes from the Hassidic family of Baruch Pinchas Rabinowitch, who belonged to the court of the Skolya Rebbe. Today the court is located in Brooklyn, New York. The Rabbinic dynasty is from the family of the Ba'al Shem Tov. Inscription: Three Kabbalistic phrases for the third cup of Passover wine
