The rectangular painting depicts the accompanied by inscriptions.
The scene of the Sacrifice is placed within a trefoil arch supported by two columns. The arch is decorated with fringes. Branches bearing leaves and flowers appear at the corners of the arch's rectangle.
The painting is framed with inscriptions written in big square filled letters. Most of the inscriptions are read clockwise.
The inscription above the painting is read from right to left:
"אברהם עוקד את יצחק [בנו?]" “ Abraham sacrificing Isaac [his son?]”
The inscription at the right of the painting reads: "עקידת יצחק היום"“Sacrifice of Isaac today”
The inscription below the painting reads:
" [לזרעו?] של יעקב אבינו [תזכור] "
“[ ] of Jacob our father [you shall remember]”
The inscription at the left of the painting reads:
"שנת בנחלת ציון לפ"ק [לפרט קטן]" [646(5) = 1886]
“ The year ‘in Nahlat Zion' " [(5)646 = 1886].
(Remark: The date is derived from the Hebrew letters of the words ‘In nahlat Zion’)
Another inscription appears at the lower left side. It is a small inscription written in square letters in a medallion inside a square, reading from right to left:
"על ידי / משה ן' [בן] יצחק / טהראני תושב / עיה"ק [עיר הקודש] ירושלם / ת"ו [תיבנה ותיכונן]"
"Was done by/ Moshe son of Itzhak / Teherani resident of / the Holy city Jerusalem / May it be built and established.”
It is possible that another medallion appeared at the lower right corner.
Another tiny inscription appears at the bottom of the painting, written in small linear square letters, it reads:
"איסור השגת גבול ידועה [ על פי תורתנו הקדושה ו ?] חוקי הממשלה יר"ה [ירום הודה]"
“Prohibition on trespassing known [according to our holy bible and the ?] laws of the government
(Remark: The reading of the inscriptions is based on other works done by Moshe Sha Mizrahi appearing in the book :
