The leaf shaped Torah pointer comprises a bar and a pointer.
The bar is formed of an upper cylindrical handle, surmounting a lower flat leaf-shape, which tapers towards a clenched hand pointer.
The cylindrical handle consists of alternating elongated undulating units and round rings. A round loop, through which a ring is inserted, tops its upper part.
The leaf-shape is topped by a round medallion, enclosing a flower, and set above a rectangular, concave unit. A thin line encircled by a zigzag border, frames the leaf. The back face is inscribed with a dedicatory inscription, engraved in square linear letters oriented towards the pointer and reads:
"הקדש לבית הכנסת הגדולה/ למנוחת האשה כשרה מרת שלבייה/ בת אסתר לבית מאדאר נלב"ע (נאספה לבית עולמה) ביום/ ג' ש' (של) אייר שנת התש"מ/ ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.א (תהא נשמתה צרורה בצרור החיים אמן)."
“Dedicated to the Great Synagogue for the repose of the conscientious woman Mrs. Shelbia, daughter of Esther of the Madar family, passed away on the 3rd day of the Iyar the year (5)740 (19.4.1980). May her soul be bound in the bond of life, amen.” The inscription is framed by two diagonal lines.
The clenched hand pointer has an extended forefinger.
