The southern and western bands framing the nave mosaic pavement consist of a row of poised squares linked by strips which form symmetric trapezoids.
The poised squares in the southern band contain the following
(from west to east): a lozenge in a square surrounded by four flower buds; a tree with three pomegranates; a hen followed by four chicks; a lozenge in a square surrounded by four flower buds.
Western band from south to north: a cluster of grapes; a square centred by a lozenge surrounded by four flower buds; a plate with fruit: grapes, and pomegranate, figs or pears, and a citron (etrog);
a square with a poised square in the middle ; a bunch of grapes; a deep basket filled with grapes, a pomegranate and a fig; a square with a poised square in the middle.
