The eastern band framing the mosaic of the nave is composed
of twelve inhabited medallions which are formed by vine-scrolls. The medallions are inhabited by human figures, animals and verious objects
as follows (from north-east to south-east):
a small bird, a four-legged animal, three vertical conical objects, a hare biting a grape off a bunch, a damaged depiction of the head and tail of an animal, the bust of a man holding a bird,
a pheasant, a four-legged animal (fox?), a basket filled with round fruit and a hare bitting a grape from the vine.
All the animals are depicted in profile, facing north.

The density of tesserae per 10cm2 is uniform in all elements, figurative, vegetal and geometric, 9x9 9x10.
The colours of the tesserae, besides white and black, are one or two shades of grey, brick red, wine red, light brown, dark brown and ochre yellow.

The seventh medallion from the north-east corner was severely damaged; no restoration can be seen.
The lower part of the eighth medallion was damaged and restored with white tesserae. Medallions nine, ten and eleven were damaged and reconstructed.
