Fols. 18-18v: The text of Rabban Gamliel פסח מצה ומרור (Passover lamb, unleavened bread and bitter herbs) is illustrated by Scribe B on the recto and verso of a folio: in the middle of fol. 18 the word פסח is illustrated with a lamb drawn below it in brown ink within the related portion of the text. To the lower right of this page, within the text column, a round mazzah is depicted on a square napkin set in a round dish. The mazzah is inscribed with מצה זו שאנו אוכלין (This unleavened bread which we now eat), which are the opening words of the section.

Illustrating the מרור (fol. 18v) is a tall stylised tree with three pairs of branches, standing on a semi-circular base, drawn to the right of the text column.

A similar representation of the maror as a stylised tree appears in two other 19th-century Moroccan manuscripts (figs. 1-2).
