A small plaque with information about the 2018 restoration is attached to the pedestal.

Inscription

On the gate, in Croatian:

On the left side:

Ništa nije vrednije
od ljudskih patnja,
koje podniješe bez slobode
borci za slobodu.

Translation: Nothing is more valuable than human suffering, which freedom fighters endured without freedom.

Kroz ova vrata ulazilo se u
Danicu prvi ustaško-fašisti-
čki logor u Hrvatskoj
u užas, glad, mučenja i smrt
ovuda prođoše hiljade muš-
karaca, žena i djece rodolju-
ba i komunista. Među njima i
članovi CK KPH-e Bukovac
Mirko, Butorac Anka i
Krajačić Marijan.
Svi su oni ovdje najokrut-
nije mučeni, a zatim većina
otremana u klaonice Jadov-
na i Jasenovca, gdje im je krv-
nička ruka metkom i nožem
oduzela život.

Translation: Danica, the first Ustaša-fascist camp in Croatia, was entered through this gate, thousands of men, women and children of patriots and communists passed through it in horror, hunger, torture and death. Among them were members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Croatia Bukovac Mirko, Butorac Anka and Krajačić Marijan. All of them were most cruelly tortured here, and then most of them were sent to the slaughterhouses of Jadovno and Jasenovac, where the hand of the executioner took their lives with a bullet and a knife.

On the right side:

Vi niste uzalud pali
divni junaci!
Imena vaša lebde nad nama
kao bodreći znaci.
Neuništivo srce vaše
po nama bije.
Dajuć našim srcima
snagu čelika
Uz svakog živog stražara
po jedan mrtvi bdije
O zemljo naša
kako si postala
močna i velika!

J. Popovič

Translation: You did not fall in vain, wonderful heroes! Your names hover over us as encouraging signs. Your indestructible heart beats for us. Giving to our hearts the strength of steel. With every live guard, one dead man keeps watch. Oh, our land, how did you become strong and great! J. Popovič

Povodom 15. godišnjice
