The picture represents a scene in a Rabbinical court. It takes place in a large room. A table is standing in its center. To the right on the foreground there is a chest of drawers covered with table-cloth and with two candles standing on it. Shimon-Ele with a goat is standing in the center of the room. He adresses himself to two bearded old men sitting between the table and the chest of drawers. At the table en face sits an old crooked chief rabbi with a kipa on his head. To the right there is a group of standing jews. At the background one can see the figures of Teme-Gitl, who has sold the goat and her husband - melamed. A four-horn chandalier, hanging from the ceiling, lightens the room.
