The decoration of the western wall was arranged similarly to the eastern wall. The wall was divided into three tiers, each of which were divided vertically into panels with text, symbolical images, and ornamentation.
The upper tier of the semicircular spandrel of the vault was decorated with symbolic images. In the central panel there were two trumpeting heraldic lions flanking a medallion that contained text. Large vases with etroges, lulaves, fruits, and flowers were on the panels directly to the north and south of the lions. Two hands (each holding a shofar) were depicted above the left vase.
