A red-hair young dancer with an elongated figure seen from behind, stands at the foreground before an oval shaped mirror. She looks over her shoulder to the left at a brown monkey standing at her feet and holding a bouquet of flowers. The dancer wears a bun in her hair and a light-blue tutu with a cut-out back. A corsage is attached to her tight belt at the back of her dress. A pale curtain hangs on the right. An inscription on the back of the canvas reads: "J. Ryback/ La Danseuse/ 34 Rue du Lotentin/ Paris XV."
