Art Alone
© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Tartakovsky, Sergey, 11.1992
The bas-relief represents a human face. It resembles a huge mask of almost rectangular shape. Only the cheeks are slightly protruding sideways. The face has no forehead. Large circles of furrows and folds disperse from the mouth. Small ones surround the eyes. They resemble wrinkles. The eyes are represented by two concentric circles with a protruding "pupil" at the center. On the place of the nose there is a narrow vertical chink. There are four small outgrowths in the mouth (two above and two below) resembling teeth, and one large one at the center representing a stuck out tongue. Here and there the surface of the bas-relief is covered with knobs.
