In the middle of the page, the initial word "And (The Lord) spoke" (וידבר) opening the passage for the blessing on the Torah in the Preliminary Morning Service is written in bold letters and outlined by red filigree pen-work that forms a panel. Along the left side of this panel a human face in three quarters is portrayed, protruding its balloon-shaped tongue and wearing a long hat. The panel is filled with club motifs in small pen-work, while flourishes extend from its right side into the inner margin and along the text column.
